Film Review: Se7en

SE7EN (1995) stars Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow and directed by David Fincher, and written by Andrew Kevin Walker. The film has a 85% freshness rating at the Rotten Tomatoes site.

Se7en is one of my favorite crime films. This is a dark and suspenseful film that pairs a veteran homicide detective (Morgan Freeman) with a rookie (Brad Pitt) to track down a serial killer who is using the seven deadly sins to teach the world –and those whom he targets– a fatal lesson. As Morgan Freeman’s character, Lieutenant William Somerset states, “he’s preaching” to a world consumed with depravity and corruption.
