great review Keishon. One of the films on my ‘all-time underrated films’ list of ‘little’ films that just tell a small story very, very well – rather than trying to be a huge blockbuster. Great acting, writing, direction, and look/feel.

i just discovered Dana’s books and am plowing through them like a mad person! I am on #5 of the Kate series and just last night finished Fire and Ice. The sex scene was totally appropriate where and when it was. I can’t wait to see what happens with these books.

I like this about Dana’s writing. It’s not cringe-making like a lot of sex in books can be. A major agent in London who mentored my crime novel (as part of an award I won) refused to countenance any sex in crime fiction. Which is strange, when there’s so much violence! (Anyway I put lots of sex in my poetry!) And what’s this about waiting? Did the 80s and 70s never happen? Good grief! We’ve stumbled into a time machine set to 1950!

I only know because I did a lecture on hardboiled detective fiction and dug into the history. Red Harvest is leagues ahead of Snarl of the Beast which is more like early Mike Hammer.
