I blew this book off, The Informationist, by Taylor Stevens when it first came out but then I learned recently that James Cameron will probably make this book into a movie after vowing to do Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5 first. I didn’t want to read The Informationist because it was described in such a way as to be a knock off of Stieg Larsson’s Lisbeth Salander character. At any rate, I may just give this book another look after all. The sequel is already out as well, The Innocent. If you’ve read this book, what did you think of it?

I enjoyed this book and wrote a review which I posted on Amazon and my website http://www.dragonbadgebooks.com/
It is a straight forward thriller set in Equatotial Guinea. You could compare the protagonist to Salender, and Larson’s books are better, but I would recommend The Informationist as well.
I am not sure if my first post was accepted, so briefly, The Informationist is worth a read. I posted a review on my web site http://www.dragonbadgebooks.com/
Thanks Scott! Appreciate the feedback.
I really found it hard going. The backstory for the main character seemed contrived, to say the least, and the relationships that make make her success possible – both with men who are self-sufficient, skilled, and shrewd – aren’t convincing unless you accept that someone who has proved herself to be untrustworthy over and over again continues to get help from those whose trust she has violated because she’s just so doggone intriguing. I suppose this is targeted for The Girl Who… fans or lovers of Carol O’Connell’s Kathleen Mallory, but this main character is not as convincing as either.
Hi Paul, I’ll have to agree with you. I posted my opinion on GR which states that if I hadn’t read other authors who wrote better books in this genre, I might have found The Informationist a tiny bit interesting. I didn’t finish it. Thanks for the feedback.
