Ebook Mystery Novels for $2.99 or Less

Looking for some new mystery novels to try at a low price? Then look no further. Method: I did an advanced search using Amazon (U.S.) to find low priced mystery novels from various publishers. I found more titles under Minotaur books and not many at that. Of course, being that publishers are still behind the times with geo restrictions and the like, the titles might not be available in your area (grumble) and I’m not sure how long these will be on sale either. Now then, onward to the list! May you find something of interest at a really cheap price today!

Low Priced Ebook Mystery Titles For $2.99 or less

The Long Fall by Lynn Kostoff *0*

Dead Simple by Peter James *2.99*

Looking Good Dead by Peter James *2.99*

In the Bleak Midwinter *2.99* (Book #1)

A Fountain Filled With Blood by Julia Spencer-Fleming *2.99* (Book #2)

Out of the Deep I Cry by Julia Spencer-Fleming *2.99* (Book #3)

Still Life by Louise Penny *2.99* (Book #1)

No Trace:A Brock and Kolla Mystery by Barry Maitland *2.99*

If you haven’t read Julia Spencer-Fleming, the first two books I listed are at a great price. I enjoy her Rev. Clare Fergusson series that are set in Miller’s Kill, New York. The series is well written with a subtle romance in them. One of the things I love about Spencer-Fleming’s books is that she’s not afraid to tackle some hotbed issues like hate crimes, environmentalism, debate over autism and vaccinations and so forth. A great series.

Some publishers are a lot more enlightened than others when it comes to e-book prices. I suppose it also depends on whether the book is current or backlist. I have previously checked out Julia S-F after a post from Judith (Reader in the Wilderness) about their e-cheapness but sadly the offer does not extend to the UK. However, some of her paperbacks are available very cheap in 2nd hand editions.

Totally agree re the Julia Spencer-Fleming books. I started reading the series last year and I am thoroughly enjoying it!

    Thanks for these pointers.

I’ve bought each of Julia Spencer-Fleming’s ebooks as they’ve become available, also Louise Penny.

I’m excited to see Barry Maitland, who is such a consistently strong writer, in digital format, although I wish publishers would release the books either all at once or in order. Amazon has several more of his books at $3.19 and, if anyone is interested, I would highly recommend the first book, The Marx Sisters, which is one of my favorite mysteries.

John Brady’s Matt Minogue books are slowly turning digital as well at $2.07 (what is with these weird prices, although not complaining?). As with Maitland and so many others, I already own the physical books, but I want them electronically, too.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could sign up to be notified of pricing changes for specific writers? Right now, remembering to check periodically means I’m missing some great books.

That would be awesome, Darlynne. I always try to check periodically but most times I only check the big six for books but will start expanding my search to include independent publishers who offer great stories at reasonable prices. Thanks for the tip on Maitland, I did download that one and the Long Fall that someone also said was good via Twitter.

Not a bad list really. I ought to look at the UK Amazon and see what they have.
