For the last couple of days I’ve been consumed with watching HBO’s seven part series, Generation Kill, that’s based on Evan Wright’s bestseller of the same name. The series follows the battalion of Marines who were apart of the first phase of the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Wright was a Rolling Stone reporter embedded with them. The mini-series originally aired in 2008. Just finished watching it. Excellent series.
I hadn’t blogged in a few days due to a busy work week so I thought what the heck, why not post about this? Consider this a filler post if you like. But know this: if David Simon’s name is on it, I’m watching it. I have Treme queued up and ready to watch tonight. Yes, I’m behind so sue me.
Also, just in case you don’t know, there’s the HBO To Go app that’s linked to your satellite provider to allow streaming of almost any HBO show on your iThing. I’ve been eying the six seasons of Oz that’s available and Boardwalk Empire and may just go for it. Read or watch TV? Decisions, decisions.

My sister got me to watch Generation Kill when I visited her a while back. Excellent series. And the book it’s based on is extremely readable as well.
For me TV is what I do when I’m too tired to read – which is quite often of late. I don’t feel like I have to concentrate quite as much with TV. I’ll be curious to see what you think of Treme, I watched the first 4 episodes on DVD but was really pretty bored. There were aspects that were interesting but, for me, too much music (I like my music and my storytelling separated not all mangled up together)
I’ll let you know because I know what you mean about it being boring. I thought the same thing but am giving it another go.
