Another Dr. Siri Paiboun book coming in hardcover October 2011 in the UK. I don’t as yet see a U.S. release date which is troublesome. I hope that doesn’t mean what I think that means. I’ll keep checking but below the break is the synopsis for book #8 in the series. Update: Dec 6,2011 US pub date.

WHAT? I had no idea, in fact, I thought Dr. Siri was lost to us because of the new series and everything. I knew about Killed at the Whim of Hat in July, but this is whatever-is-better-than fabulous news. You’ve made my morning!

And I see that John Burdett has a new Sonchai Jitpleecheep in January.
Never heard of John Burdett…off to look up! I never thought Cotterill would let go of the Dr. Siri series just because he has another one. At least he better not be planning to do that anytime soon.
Burdett’s series starts with Bangkok 8, one of my all-time favorite crime novels. Besides the attraction of the location, Sonchai is another deeply-flawed and absolutely fascinating character. His path to the Buddha is neither straight nor clear, but, sort of like Dr. Siri, he keeps putting one foot in front of the other.
